The Merger

In December of 2020 Miss O'Neill, Principal of Sale Academy of Dancing, asked Marina Stalder for the possibility of a merger between these two very established schools in Sale. Miss Stalder was of course very honoured at the prospect and still feels a great responsibility to carry on the legacy built by Miss O'Neill, her Mother ,Mary Wilde, and Miss Coackley before her. Miss O'Neill will be retiring at Easter of 2021 at which point the two schools will merge and all pupils will be offered continued training in all their theatre subjects.

Below you can find out more about the long history of Sale Academy of Dancing and all their achievements over the years.

Sale Academy of Dancing, formerly "The Mary Wilde School of Dancing", was founded by Miss O'Neills Mother in 1943 and has been in Sale, Cheshire ever since. She was assisted by Muriel Coakley, who in 1976 took over as Principal of the school. Miss O'Neill worked with Miss Coakley for many years and in September 2004, on her retirement, became Principal.

Miss O'Neill had been teaching dancing for 30 years. After gaining her teaching qualifications at the age of 17, she pursued a career as a professional dancer at home and abroad working in theatre, cabaret and television. She is very involved in amateur theatre with Sale Nomads Theatre Club performing in and directing, plays, pantomimes and musicals. She also had the honour of being President of Sale Nomads in 2002/3 and is currently their chair.
